WHO needs to take HIPPA training?
Evey person who is working in a lab should take the basic courses on securing private data.
Every person who is part of the payroll will be automatically enrolled in Public Jobs, Private Data. Although this covers the basics, please note that people who work with research subjects should also take the courses for securing research data - whether it be Private Health Information or not. I can enroll individuals in these courses if their job classification number does not automatically put them in a targeted category. If there are questions, it is best to error on the side of caution. Please contact me if you are wondering about a specific instance.
How do I sign up a new student or employee for the proper training?
To take the courses, a person must have an x500.And to get an x500, the person needs to be an employee or a registered student. Please send me the x500s from the people whom you want to enroll.
If the person is neither, we can provide them with a short-term (< 6 months) sponsored account that will allow them access. I will establish the account and then sign them up for training.
After the person is setup for training, they will receive and email and the courses will appear in their MyU portal.
